I'm late, i'm late .... but i'm there!

Hi everybody !
I'm late but I'm there for our traditional summary.
I'll speak about our last lesson.

Well .... what did we do on last monday ?

  • First : exercises !

Note a new one in order to learn to feel each one in the group. Imagine :we are 10 in a circle. Everybody close their eyes then we count, one after another. If you say a number at the same time as someone else, the exercise fails. We counted till 69 !!! Good ! Amazing ! We are the best !

  • Second part : dead poets society ;-)

In the dark, everybody worked on their poem.

The essential things for all :

- Take your time

- Be careful of your voice

- Be careful of your body (legs,arms, eyes,look ...)

  • Third part : Chaplin meeting a woman

We worked in pair. But, be careful : women were men and men were women!

The exercise was to imitate the Chaplin way of "drague" (lol) with his stick and his hat !

It was a very difficult exercise because of a lot of signs and reactions to imitate and the importance of being "in phase"with you partner.

  • And I forgot something else : The jungle songs !

By group of three or four, create an environment like the jungle or a street, or whatever you want ... Then, on this environment all the others could imagine life there.

Good exercise for imagination !

Work for monday : learn your poem with Anna's advice !

PS : scuse my frenglish ;-)

Terrifying teacher is back! Monday the16th October's session

Dear Froggies,

well, well, well...
no one answered my mail asking who would like to write last session's summary.
solitude is my best friend...
ah well! that's ok because that way i don't feel guilty telling you that:
from now on, the later you arrive, the later we finish. And to make sure everybody understand, i'll repeat in French and in red: plus vous arrivez tard à l'atelier, plus on finit tard, non mais!

And now, ladies and gentlemen, a short summary

The poems
After the usual warming up of the body and the voice, we worked on the poems for Wednesday at the Club des Poètes. We focused on who to talk to, who to watch (the audience, somebody special, nobody) and how to work on the body. The most important is to make people hear the poem well so taking our time is the most important rule.
And that worked really well on Wednesday for Thibaut, Maria and Gwenola, who told their poems. They were really amazing and iIalmost cried (true!)

After a short break so Badra could smoke and insult terrifying teacher who refused to pause earlier, back to work

Charlie Chaplin
Sebastien, our famous pianist, joined us and for the first time, did all the exercices with us!

First game: two groups had to run and the winner was the first to cross the line of course. The only thing was that all the movements had to be done in slow motion. Also, you could cheat to win: make the others fall down, hit them etc...and the expression of the face was crucial. It was quite funny to watch that I must say. Much laughing hé!hé!

Second game: we watched and watched again an extract from "By the Sea"/Charlie Chaplin where Charlie Chaplin ate a banana, threw it away and slipped on the banana. We analysed his movements and expression and tried to reproduce them exactly. What we noticed was that it was very difficult to tell a story with movements and that precision was a big rule. Also, what is important is to reinterprate Chaplin's movements and integrate them to our personality and not try to do exaclly like him because everybody is different.

Everyone was great in that exercise, far more than what Iexpected! Congratulations to all of you and see you ON TIME on monday

what to do for monday:
1. learn your poem by heart
2. fill the table on doodle.com for the show at the end of the year
3. give your availability dates between December 1st and 16th

French is back! Farida's summary of Monday the 9th October's session

EPILOGUE : Les retrouvailles.

(NDLTT: my pleasure!)
