Monday the 19th of October/theme: imagination

Place: a strange and orange room with a disused piano and negro spiritual song’s coming from nowhere…

Characters: -Terrifying teacher
- 4 veterans (Gwénola, Alain, Thibaud and Florence)
- 4 juniors (Farida, Maria, Jocelyn and Manuel)

Context: Our terrifying teacher with her amazing boots (thanks :)) says terrifying teacher) goes on helping us to work as a community, to discover each over, to discover our voice, our body and to develop our imagination with a lot of games, so many that I am not sure I can remember all of them.

Game 1: Circle to close our eyes and to remember our whole day with the voice of Allan.

Game 2: Breathing exercise: We tried to breathe with our stomach and not with our shoulders. It makes all the difference for our voice.

Game 3: The walking game: we inwalked in the room, quickly and when Anna clapped in her hands, we had to get together to draw a circle or a triangle or a line…

Game 4: the” Tranformer”: Choose an object, play with it , give it to someone who had to transform it.

Game 5 : Discovering each other by touching each other faces or hands, eyes closed.

Game 6: 2 teams for a story in 5 pictures. It worked better than the other time because we chose easier stories

Game 7: the discovery of an object by an alien
Anna's advice:- Take the time to discover the place
- Don’t focus on your character
- Discover the object slowly, touch it…
- Choose a “human” feeling and play only with it.
- Take the time
- Take the time…..

Game 8: Money: discovering a 10euros note on your way; Anna chose who you were supposed to be before finding the note! I returned with her after the workshop and in the street, she had to do the same exercice because she found a coin of 10……cents in front of a grocery .... she was Anna Jahjah and as usual ....a very good actress ! thanks again beautiful Florence!

Lundi 12 octobre/Jocelyn

English Theatre lesson called: « The body Language »

We first talked about poetry, about going or not to the “Club des Poètes” from December to tell poems. It has been decided that we should first go and see the place before any decision.
Nevertheless, all of us must bring a poem for next time.

After the (usual ?) circle to create a continuity with what happened during the day for each of us, we started talking about music, and the CD we had brought (Eagles: “Hotel California); “My baby don’t care “; The Pogues; Nick Cave …).

First exercise with songs chosen by Anna: one person starts doing movements and another one (or several one) imitates this person. Then, after a while, and without any spoken words, the person who was imitating becomes the leader, and so on …..

Second music exercise
When Annah puts a CD on, the person who brought the song starts to move (slow movements are easier to copy) and all the other persons do the same movements. Sometime, Anna stops the music and we are asked to go on singing, tapping and dancing ….

Third music exercise
we tried to improvise on a song some/all of us knew, trying to create different sounds with our body, our environment...

Last exercice: the photographer
Two groups and 5 shots to create a story

First group : the story of the houses of the 3 little pigs
Second group : a story in a zoo

For next monday: a poem!!

This is not a report!

Come on guys, you won't do whatever Anna tel you to do, some people tried last year, and, well, I'd rather not talk about it. Poor Tri Duc, we used to love him, you know. So, what's my point here, exactly? You don't have to wait that Anna ask you to write a report to write a note into this blog. You can post whatever you want whenever you want.
Dont acte (don't act):

Where is Le Club des Poètes and why we should go there:
Le Club des Poètes is located in the 7th district of Paris:
30 rue de Bourgogne
01 47 05 06 03

They tell poetry every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday
It was created in 1961 by a french poet, Jean-Pierre Rosnay who used to host also a TV and a radio show about poetry. Great poets went there to tell and listen to poems such as Vinicius de Moraes, Mahmoud Darwich (remember, this is the poet Anna made us dance on yesterday), Pablo Neruda and many others. Today, it's hosted by Blaise, Jean-Pierre's son, Yasmin, and their boy and already great 5 years old poet Timothée.
And then, for those who think that such a place could be "too cultural" or even too parisian, don't be afraid, it's nothing like this. It's the most warmly, open and then unexpected place you'll find in Paris. You really don't have to "know" anything about poetry too feel cumfortable there.
And by the way (I already mentionned it yesterday) this week, a young ballerina will dance on the poems, just like you did.
to have an idea:

I think it might be interesting for you just to go there once or twice and see if you like the place before even thinking about Anna's suggestion to tell poems over there (and by the way, don't mention it). Just enjoy your evening first!

Vocabulary :
masseur/masseuse: masseur/masseuse
pupitre (à musique): music stand

great music:
I know that each of you really loved ( ... ) the music we've been dancing on yesterday when I was a leader, so, this is it:

See you on monday!

c'est la rentrée!

Dear Froggies,

With October comes Autumn, its dead leaves, its rain, work , the metro and...The Funny Jumpy Froggies Journey's in the English Acting!

After a trial lesson last week with many female Froggies and few male ones, the time of men's revenge has come! Indeed, last monday night, we counted four, yes! four men for seven froggettes. Lucky us...

The theme of the session was: discovering
and there were many things to discover indeed

1. discovering each other

We discovered a lot about each other during the trial session but there was still a lot to do; thus we discovered more about Alain and Jean-Luc, who were missing the first time and also about their capacity to lie: they had to talk about themselves, including three lies in their biography. Their hesitations, their body language...helped us (or not! they were quite good actually) finding out what was a lie or not.

After that, the traditional warming up with the circle, the warming of the body etc...

The next exercice helped memorizing the names, discovegrin the faces and the bodies of our future partners: we had to walk in the space and when we heard the clap, describe our neighbour, or give our names and laugh, or give our names and sing or cry.

We then came back in the circle and tested our memory with the game of one name/one action

2. discovering the space

We discovered space in many different ways: we managed to describe the main elements of the room with our eyes closed. Then we discovered the room eyes closed, touching the different elements of the space with our partner guiding us.

3. discovering the power of imagination

With the help of different sorts of music (jazz, African music from Mali, electronic music, funk), we created different types of places, some familiar (jazz club, concert, party) some more exotic (the desert) and imagined complete different places from the one we were actually in.

To sum up, a great group for a great teacher (hé!hé!)
For next week: choose a song that you will sing or play on a CD player.

Have a nice weekend!
